About us
The ILT-IOD is the specialised environmental investigation service of the Netherlands. We carry out criminal investigations into organised environmental crime. These often involve international structures and trade flows which, without action, lead to irreversible harm to people, the environment and society.
In the waste and recycling sector, signs of crime can occur at different points in the chain. Examples include illegal cross-border waste shipments, incorrect processing or use of waste materials, serious soil contamination, or companies that deliberately break the rules to gain a financial advantage.
Your information can help to uncover these practices and prevent further harm. If you are unsure whether a situation is relevant, it can still be valuable to share your information with us. During Afvalmanagement & Recycling, we would be pleased to speak with you about our work, the approach to environmental crime and the importance of notifications from the sector.
