DDAW Camera

Intelligent driver monitoring recognizes fatigue and warns the driver immediately.

Brigade’s DDAW Driver Safety Camera has been developed to monitor driver alertness and recognize signs of fatigue before they develop into a greater safety risk. Fatigue can reduce concentration and reaction speed without the driver immediately noticing it. The DDAW system therefore adds an extra layer of support by continuously assessing, through intelligent monitoring, whether the driver is exhibiting signs of reduced alertness. A Full HD camera with an 88-degree viewing angle is aimed at the driver. When the system detects signs of drowsiness, such as prolonged closed eyes, the driver can be immediately alerted with an audible warning in the cab. This draws attention to developing fatigue at a moment when the driver can react. The system has been specifically developed around the requirements for Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning. Brigade's MDSM-22S DDAW Driver Safety Camera has been independently tested to meet the DDAW requirements of Regulation (EU) 2019/2144. The compact camera and control unit have been developed for integration into commercial vehicles and operate on 12–32 Vdc. Relevant recordings and data can be accessed via a mobile application. DDAW is particularly relevant for fleets where drivers spend extended periods behind the wheel and where maintaining sufficient alertness is essential for safe vehicle operation. While many vehicle safety systems focus on what happens outside the vehicle, DDAW focuses specifically on the driver. The system monitors alertness and warns when signs of fatigue are detected.
